What is Muscle Activation Techniques?
MAT is the way to get your body back to its full movement by evaluating the body for tightness.
Tightness indicates that there is a group of muscles not working together to give you the support you need in the joints, spine, hands, feet, and/or neck to do your daily activities, work, and sports.
When we see an imbalance we systematically test the individual muscles to find out the ones that are not functioning adequately.
Think about it in terms of an office situation where there are 10 people in a department with only 8 doing all the work. The 8 get pretty mad and uptight until someone kick starts the other 2, then everyone is happy again!
Obviously this is an over simplified version but, it hopefully gives you an idea our thought processes & how we can bring stability back to a joint. Even if a joint has been painful from years or from a strain yesterday, both can be treated with positive outcomes.
How do you kick start a muscle that is weak?
It is a pretty straight forward method of cross friction to the ends of a muscle. We use our fingers to apply the pressure to the muscle attachment and rub the site for 3 or 4 seconds.
